D.O.D
So you guys probably remember us talking about Dogs Of Design a couple posts back and had nothing but good stuff to say about the team! We just wanted to show you guys a couple art pieces that Max Parker did around his shop. You guys that dont know him he’s the founder C.E.O of D.O.D which is a company that does everything from web and concept development to photography, multimedia etc. He’s so busy with his business that he has little time for his art work, but he’s trying to get back in the game and he’s working on some new pieces for a gallery! We’ll put up the new painting’s in a couple weeks after his show.
Max likes to air brush doors instead of your typical canvas…
Its really hard to take pictures in the hallway because it’s really small but I tried my best. As you can see Max can do a little bit of everything
When you meet max he’s one of those big dudes with a big heart and really smart, but when it comes to his art work most of it is really dark and Gothic
This is Ricky one of Max’s top dogs of the company and also one of our good friends. Ricky has been helping us as-well with our hand drawn designs by cleaning them up on the computer and putting his own twist to them! I swear this kid can do everything you throw at him he’s a really well rounded guy. He has a lot things going on and things that he wants to accomplish, but a lot of the times he’s too busy doing other peoples things that its hard to do his own shit! You can see some of his work on youtube.
This is one of Ricky’s pieces that he did two years ago. BOSSSS
Through The Eyes of Our Younger Brother Jacob
So we’ve done a couple of post about this night… It was about two weeks ago that I hit up this gallery. Street Legal was a show which featured Koffie, Retna, The Mac and Mear One and I can’t leave out my boy Motion who showed me around for a bit.
The 17ft statue was the main attraction done by Mear One. The symbolism behind this was how death can become life. This piece took Mear 3 weeks straight day in and day out with very little sleep in between.
Kofie’s pieces at this show were purely amazing, just seeing how much detail went into each and every one of them. Shit is BAAWWWSSEE!
Mear really knows how to use different shades of the same color to make it stand out.
Taking a closer look in the intricate works of Kofie’s pieces.
No need for explanations when it comes to Retna’s paintings…
You can ask any artist about painting faces and they’ll all tell you that it’s by far the hardest thing to do, but El Mac makes it look so easy.
Take a look at the G.I JOE taking a prisoner.
People were getting a little tipsy off the free vodka tonics and wine.
The gallery itself was a little small but the turnout was big. It was nice seeing the younger crowd enjoying the works of some of the top artists in the industry. I met a lot of cool people at this show and it was nothing but good vibes.
Flicks
As you can see we started the day with some Philippe’s French dipped sandwiches. I love coming here, good people, good food at a cheap price. You cant wrong by coming here and getting the double dipped turkey with the macaroni salad and a lemonade plus a coffee.
Our good friends Sara and Young came along today, We were trying to convince them to jump in the game…
After Philips we wanted to walk around and take some flicks and enjoy the view of Downtown..
Got some coffee to do some more walking…. Young says ” Whats good? “
Addicts….
So my partner is such a food truck fanatic, we had to go here! I never seen so many trucks at once, People were everywhere just hoping around from truck to truck. It was wild son like that huge booty in front of me uuuuhhg. This event was hosted by TLofts and roughly 20 trucks were there to support and a portion of the earnings went to Haiti.
You gotta start by checking out what people are eating and if you digg then digg in…
We got there somewhat late so we weren’t able to taste test too many trucks but the ones that we did were BOSSSS
Homeboys were busy but not too busy to take a pic…
And for desert you know we had to get down with KING KONE!!
Of course we had to say whats up to this little bulldog… This little guy was 3 months old but looked like a grown ass man
After eating at the Tloft event we headed to the Evo Hotel for the Vox Humana VIP after party. Security was heavy for this event but thanks to our younger bro that was already there we were able to get in. We met a lot of cool people but we also met a lot of FREAKS.
After we got off the elevator and got in the suite we headed straight for the balcony
We met this group of kids when we walked into the suite, They had their own clothing line that they’ve been doing since high school. They were probably the most down to earth people that we met at this party. It was nice to see these young kids doing what they love and keeping true to themselves.
They were handing out tomato basil soup and tortilla soup shots, that’s what home-girl was sippin on…
Our younger bro from Eighteen Volts enjoying the view…
The Process: Vox Humana
What can I say were the new faces of gallery blogging and with that being said, We got invited to a private live painting these last 5 days for the Vox Humana show! My partner in crime and I couldn’t go but we sent our younger brother Jacob to go for us and take some flicks… He was like a little kid in a candy store, he got to meet a lot of big dogs in the game plus they took time to hangout with him and took him out to eat! At the same time he got to hangout and run the L.A ART MACHINE booth by Bryson Srauss. So for helping Bryson out he got to meet the four artists that where doing the live painting which were MEAR ONE, EL MAC, RETNA and KOFIE. These last 4 to 5 days our brother has been going back and fourth to the show meeting people while getting our name out there and having fun at the same time. My brother had nothing But love for Mear one and Motion because they took their time from their busy schedule to hangout with him! Our brother got to pick their brain a little bit and talk about their future projects, they also showed him some video’s that they’ve been working on. At the same time they were showing him some tricks with our camera settings while they past a joint around to free their minds a little bit, telling stories and inviting my brother to their house to paint. After all is set and done I think my brother had a good time. On the second to last day we got invited to the after party on the Penthouse Suite of the Evo Hotel in Downtown L.A and we all went for that. We will show you the picture’s of the party in our next post.
